Our Story

Beginnings in Austin

Bob Smoot’s entrepreneurial spirit took root in Baton Rouge but flourished in the vibrant city of Austin, Texas. In early 1986, with a vision to innovate in the floral industry, Bob acquired Griffith Wholesale, a well-established wholesale florist in Austin. This marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey in business and in life, as Bob and his soon-to-be wife, Nancy, joined forces both professionally and personally.

True Power Couple

Bob and Nancy, a dynamic duo with diverse backgrounds, married on April 5th and embarked on a remarkable adventure of growth and success. Bob brought his financial acumen from his days as a bank manager in Baton Rouge, while Nancy contributed her sales expertise from her time with Kimberly Clark in New Orleans. Together, they transformed Griffith Wholesale, expanding the business by an impressive 400% in just four years.

New Ventures in Arkansas

The couple’s entrepreneurial spirit didn’t stop there. Selling Griffith Wholesale was just a stepping stone to their next venture – a unique moss and dried flower company based in the picturesque landscapes of Arkansas. Specializing in the gathering of organic mosses from the lush Arkansas mountains, they carved a niche for themselves in the market. Their products found a home in large craft stores, grocery chains, and both wholesale and retail floral accounts.

Growth & Expansion

Their business portfolio expanded to include representation of dried flower growers from the sun-kissed fields of California to the rich soils of Mexico. But perhaps the most intriguing part of their journey was operating a Spanish moss company out of Saltillo, Mexico. This venture particularly stood out, as they supplied craft stores by trucking their products directly to distribution warehouses.

Bob and Nancy’s story is more than a tale of business success; it’s a testament to the power of partnership, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of growth. From Baton Rouge to the mountains of Arkansas, their journey is a vibrant tapestry of entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence.
